INTEGRATED HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATION NAMES PHYSICIAN EXECUTIVES
WALNUT CREEK, CA – The Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), a
statewide leadership group active in health care policy and managed care issues,
announces the appointment of two physician executives to its board of directors:
Sam Ho, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer for
PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., based in Santa Ana; and John Jenrette, MD, chief medical officer for Sharp Community Medical
Group in San Diego.
John Jenrette, MD, was named medical director for Sharp Community Medical Group in 1994 and its chief medical officer in 1997. Previously, he has served as director of the Family Practice Residency at Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he remains on administrative staff; clinical associate professor at Stanford University Medical Center; and chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. He was a member of the National IPA Coalition’s board of directors from 1998-2001 and it chairman in 2000-2001. Dr. Jenrette received his BS degree and medical degree from Ohio State University, completing his residency at Aultman Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice, with a certificate of added qualifications in geriatrics, and a member of both the American and California Academy of Family Practice.
Sam Ho, MD is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care services and for improving PacifiCare members’ health status throughout PacifiCare. He oversees programs in quality improvement, medical management, disease management, informatics, report cards, policy, government affairs, industry relations, media relations, provider liaison and sales and marketing. In his eight years at PacifiCare, Dr. Ho has spearheaded company wide quality initiatives and improvement in population health outcomes, and has developed the QUALITY INDEX® profile, a consumer-focused report card of medical group performance. Previously, he served 10 years as a senior executive and medical director at other major managed care organizations, is a former medical director and county health officer for the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and has held faculty appointments at both the Schools of Medicine and Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He received his BA from Northwestern University, with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Practice at UCSF and has maintained board certification with the American Board of Family Practice since then.
