White papers

The Integrated Healthcare Association released its second white paper on the California Pay for Performance Program in mid-2009. The California Pay for Performance Program: The Second Chapter covers a complete, objective account of program results and lessons learned in measurement years 2006 - 2009.

The first white paper report on the California Pay for Performance program, Advancing Quality Through Collaboration: The California Pay for Performance Program, was released in early 2006, and provides an in-depth report of the first five years of the program. The California P4P program helped to launch national and international interest in the use of performance measurement and financial incentives to promote healthcare quality in all sectors of the healthcare industry.

Both of the white papers describe the many key lessons that have emerged from IHA?s P4P program, which may be helpful for other groups deciding whether or not to implement a similar program.
