CALINX Overview

The California Clinical Data Project, also known as CALINX, is an initiative to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care through information technology. This project brings together health care organizations to develop and implement uniform standards across California for pharmacy (CALINX Rx) and laboratory (CALINX Lab) data. These standards promise to increase the value of health information technology systems by boosting efficiency and reducing errors.

Many health plans, provider groups, hospitals, and labs have endorsed the pharmacy and lab standards, and some have implemented the standards. The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) facilitated and funded the development of the CALINX standards, rules of exchange, software tools, and toolkit. In 2008, CHCF transitioned the project to the Integrated Healthcare Association  to encourage and monitor implementation of the standards.

More information can be found in the CALINX Resource links to the right.
