That’s why IHA developed the California Healthcare Cost & Quality Atlas. The Atlas measures clinical quality, hospital utilization, and cost of care across the state, providing a picture of where healthcare is performing well and where it’s not.
This issue brief includes an analysis of 2013 Atlas data for 14.5 million Californians enrolled in commercial HMO and PPO insurance products across the state’s 19 geographic regions. The analysis confirms earlier research documenting wide geographic and insurance product variation on quality measures while shining new light on regional and product cost variation.
